Hawkeye was nervous to meet the new staff he was going to be working with. As he headed down the corridors toward sickbay it dawned on him that he had not taken the time to learn who the CMO was. ~This is gonna end well. "Excuse me sir I'm your newest ACMO Ensign Dolphine. I was told to report to you but before I do that, do you mind telling me who you are so I can come up to you and make the introduction"? Yeah that's gonna go over real well.~ Hawkeye thought to himself. As he rounded the corner towards sickbay, he straightened out his tunic, took a deep breath and entered the sick bay. His first stop was to the office of ACMO Parker. He took a moment before knocking on the glass. "Excuse me are you ensign Parker?" (reply Parker) "I'm Hawkeye, your newest ACMO. For the record my name is Ensign Senior Grade Hawkeye Dolphine, but please, Call me Hawkeye. Never was one for the rank and last name or Dr and last name bit." Hawkeye said with a smile, extending a hand to the ACMO. (Reply Parker) After meeting the ACMO, Hawkeye continued through the bay to the office of the CMO. He read the name on the door before knocking and started to chuckle to himself for a moment. ~Angeni Trommashere, I haven't seen her since our days together at the hospital. I wonder if she's gonna remember me? We got along fairly well at the hospital years ago, Let's see if she remembers the routine.~ Hawkeye knocked on the door and waited for the response to enter the office before entering. (Reply Angeni) Once he heard the response he opened the door, leaned against the doorframe and began to address her, with a bit of ribbing from the old days. " Well there goes the neighborhood. Two black clouds working together again. I feel somewhat remorseful for the rest of the ship. But then with You as the CMO they already get enough sympathy don't they?" He said with a joking lilt in his voice. He hoped that she would recognize either the face or the voice, without getting incredibly ticked off. " If you prefer, I can introduce myself in the formal setting, but I figured that since you didn't much care for formal introductions then, you probably would have beaten me with an O2 tank or the butt of a phaser rifle if I called you Ma'am or Lt. Trommashere." He said as she raised an eyebrow. " I thought about reporting to my post in a red bathrobe and martini glass, but since I didn't know who the CMO was going to be, I thought it best to at least report in a uniform, till I get to know your staff." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades- Office - ACMO Ensign Haywood Parker- 1116) ~Damn reports~ Haywood thought bitterly to himself, dotting his final "i" on his fourth casualty report. He had no idea these things took so long, and had an even worse idea of how difficult they were to write. They were emotionless and somehow completely impersonal. And then a distinct tapping resounded from the window of his office. His head snapped up,and though he was an unshaven and unkempt mess, he smiled at the newcomer. "Excuse me are you ensign Parker?" The newcomer asked. Haywood made a face at the formalities, "Sure am," he said, "Call me Haywood, and while you're at it, feel free to come on in. I haven't bitten anyone in at least an hour." "I'm Hawkeye, your newest ACMO. For the record my name is Ensign Senior Grade Hawkeye Dolphine, but please, Call me Hawkeye. Never was one for the rank and last name or Dr and last name bit." Hawkeye said with a smile, extending a hand to the ACMO. Haywood heard himself chuckle as he excepted the new ACMO's proffered hand. "I'm sure you'll find that's how many of us around sickbay feel. Formalities are reserved for official fleet business." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ (USS Hades- Main Corridors- CMO Angeni O. Windsong-Trommashere- 1117) Angeni was sitting quietly, listening to soft music as she went over more of the injury reports. She was checking for e-signatures and making sure everything was in the correct order before they were logged into the patients' medical history files. She had a stack nearly a mile high for Chase; the man was a brilliant doctor, but could never remember to sign a chart to save his life. Just then, she heard a knock at the door, and she didn't look up. "Come in..." " Well there goes the neighborhood. Two black clouds working together again. I feel somewhat remorseful for the rest of the ship. But then with You as the CMO they already get enough sympathy don't they?" Angeni stopped mid reading and she turned to the door. ~Hawkeye?~ She stood up, a wry smile on her face, "You can at least say your shifts were never boring." " If you prefer, I can introduce myself in the formal setting, but I figured that since you didn't much care for formal introductions then, you probably would have beaten me with an O2 tank or the butt of a phaser rifle if I called you Ma'am or Lt. Trommashere." He said as he raised an eyebrow. " I thought about reporting to my post in a red bathrobe and martini glass, but since I didn't know who the CMO was going to be, I thought it best to at least report in a uniform, till I get to know your staff." "You and your Martinis'. If I remember correctly, you liked them as dry as physically possible, shaken, and neat." She smiled happily at him as she wrapped him into a hug. "It's great seeing you, Hawk. So, what made you come over to the dark side?" She said, gesturing to his comm badge. (Reply Hawkeye) Angeni nodded and sat back down. "Next question. Why are you gracing this sickbay with your presence? Last I heard you were on the Boudicca. Are you just visiting, or is this your new home?" (Reply Hawkeye) She smiled and leaned back in her chair. "You'd never guess who else is here. Do you remember Chase O'Neil? He's serving here as well, but I never thought in a million years that you'd be here. This is wonderful! Oh! have you met Haywood Parker yet? He's the ACMO." (Reply Hawkeye) "Hey, what do you say...around 2000, you, me, and Chase hit Ten Forward for a bull session. What do you say?" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ (USS Hades- sickbay- ACMO Ensign (sg) Hawkeye Dolphine- 1119) "You and your Martinis'. If I remember correctly, you liked them as dry as physically possible, shaken, and neat." She smiled happily at him as she wrapped him into a hug. "It's great seeing you, Hawk. So, what made you come over to the dark side?" She said, gesturing to his comm badge. Hawkeye returned her embrace. He was happy to see her too. Gave him another friendly face. "I gave up the hospital routine. It started to get boring. Same thing every day. Granted the injuries changed but the routine was the same. I wanted to go somewhere I would run into new challenges, something a little more fast paced. So I went to the academy and now here I am. At least here I get a chance to be a doctor, and play a little too sometimes." He said winking at Angeni. Angeni nodded and sat back down. "Next question. Why are you gracing this sickbay with your presence? Last I heard you were on the Boudicca. Are you just visiting, or is this your new home?" " Remember John? He decided to go to medical school. He enlisted in Starfleet medic corps and was posted on board the Hades. I was on the Boudicca when he sent me a message. He wanted you and I to start teaching most of his classes that he can take while serving. He asked me to meet him on board the Hades. So I put in for a transfer and here I am. She smiled and leaned back in her chair. "You'd never guess who else is here. Do you remember Chase O'Neil? He's serving here as well, but I never thought in a million years that you'd be here. This is wonderful! Oh! have you met Haywood Parker yet? He's the ACMO." "Great. The gang's all here then. We should at least feel bad for the rest of the ship, as well as your ACMO. He has no idea what hes in for now." "Hey, what do you say...around 2000, you, me, and Chase hit Ten Forward for a bull session. What do you say?" "Sounds like its gonna be a helluva reunion. I hope Ten Forward is prepared for us. For that matter I hope Captain Straton is prepared for the four black clouds on board." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2408.12.20 (USS Hades, Bridge, Captain Eva Straton, 14:36) Eva sat in the command chair starting at the stars on the viewscreen wishing something exciting would happen, patrol duty was getting terribly boring. ~Two weeks of patrol duty and only science is busy observing stellar formation in a nearby nebula.~ The Hades had been patrolling the Breen\Federation boarder showing the flag due to reports of a change in the Breen government. To date they had spotted a few Breen war ships on the other side of the boarder that had mirrored their course for a day or two then moved out of sensor range. The typical cat and mouse games that were played along the borders between hostile powers. An alarm sounded suddenly at the Operation console breaking Eva out of her thoughts. Her eyes locked on the OPS officer waiting for the report she knew would be forth coming. "Captain some kind of energy wave has just appeared on sensors, moving in our direction," The OPS officer reported. "Source," Eva asked. "Unknown. Detecting a large concentration of chroniton particles within the wave itself," Science reported. "Red alert. Raise shields," Eva ordered. ~Me and my big mouth.~"Range and time to impact can we out run it?" "It appears to be gaining speed exponentially. I've never seen anything like it," Science reported. "15 seconds till impact," OPS reported. "Turn us into the wave!" Eva snapped. ~No time to out run it. Just have to run it out and hope we come out the other side in one piece.~ "She jabbed the intership intercom on the arm rest of her command chair. "All hands, this is the Captain. Brace for impact. I repeat, brace for impact." Then the wave struck. It was like time itself had suddenly slowed down as the view screen was filled with a kaleidoscope of colors. Eva found her movements slower than normal and the Bridge crew around here were also seemed to be moving in slow motion. She looked at the view screen and was surprised to see another ship on the screen. She blinked as yet another then another ship appeared on the screen. ~The Boudicca? TheSpectre? What's going on?~ Klingon and Cardassian ships appeared on the screen intermingled with the Federation ships. Eva started to turn toward Science to ask for a report when the ships on the screen vanished as did the energy wave and they suddenly found themselves back in normal space and time seemed to return to normal. Alarms were blaring across the Bridge. "Report," Eva snapped. "We are still at the same coordinates as before," OPS reported,"warp drive is off line...This...this can't be right. Sir. The chronometer reads that the Stardate is 2413.09.08." "What?"Eva asked, unable to believe her ears. "Run diagnostics on all systems, especially the chronometers, and get a full damage report." Eva listened to the reports as they came in and considered her options.~Warp power is out and we seem to be 5 years in the future. This can't be right.~ "Contact Star Fleet Commander," Eva ordered, "Advise them of our situation and request an update." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Stardate: 2413.09.08 (USS Hades, Personal Quarters, CSEC, Lieutenant Baylon Trinin, 1430) Baylon raised the small glass tumbler to his lips, allowing the ice inside to clink softly against the side of the container. A slight fog rose as he tipped back the glass and drained the last of the icy blue Andorian Whiskey from the glass vessel. It had stopped burning it's way into his stomach after the fourth glass and now Baylon was just experiencing the numbness that drunkenness brought along with him. He sat, leaned forward, holding the glass between the fingers of his right hand, the mostly empty bottle of Andorian whiskey in his left. His uniform tunic was cast aside, lying over the arm of the chair that he occupied. The striped scars from the attack on the station stretched across his back like an irregular fishing net that had been cast into a sea of pale flesh. Their pink edges were raised and still sensitive to the touch, and Baylon had found it uncomfortable to wear his uniform top for very long before the scars began irritated and painful. Not that the Betazoid would have complained about the pain. In fact, he welcomed it in a sort of twisted macabre sort of way. It was a testament to his survival. It reminded him that he was still alive. It reminded him that he had failed to save the captain when he had been close enough to touch the man. It was a dull reminder of his inability to carry out the simple act of rescuing one man who had been counting on him from the beginning. Baylon lifted the bottle of alcohol, tipped it up spilling some of the precious blue liquid on the carpet in front of the chair and managing to just barely get the rest into the tumbler. He had taken a day off, one of only a handful in his career. He needed some time to mourn, to consider everything that had happened in the last few days. The Andorian Whiskey seemed to help with that. It always helped. His mind always returned to the lowest points in his life. The loss of his first betrothed on Andoria all those years ago; the loss of his friends there during the occupation. Then there were the romantic failures, Ranae being the most brutal to deal with. Then there were the people he had ordered to their deaths and those that he had failed to save. Memories of those experiences stretched from his temporary command of the Phlegathon in the Beta Seranis system to the much more recent loss of Captain Sash. There were dozens of names and faces that he had ordered to their deaths. They haunted him daily, exacting their vengeance on his mental state. Taunting him with harsh words that he could not discredit. Leaving him with an undeniable and indelible memory of every memory that he had made. He raised the tumbler to his lips again, took a sip and then in a flash of movement, upturned the vessel and downed the cold blue liquid. After draining the glass, he turned slapped it down on the tabletop hard enough to leave an indention in the hard wood shaped like a crescent and then turned the bottle up to quaff anything that may still remain there. There was nothing, of course, he understood that at an intellectual level. He'd been drinking solid for the last several hours. Still it didn't mean he appreciated the fact any more. In his frustration, he threw the heavy bottle across the room towards the glass display case that held his collection of bladed weapons. That was when everything got weird. One moment, the bottle was spinning end over end, arcing through the air on a collision course with the case and then suddenly it wasn't. It wasn't that it had stopped or completed it's journey through the open space between them, but rather that it had slowed it's movement an incredible amount. Instead of the rate of rotation that Baylon would have expected, the bottle seemed to move in sudden slow motion. It's spin being more reminiscent of the speed of old watch hands rather than the excited spin of a thrown object. It was strange and wonderful at the same time and Baylon's inebriated mind wondered if it was the alcohol that was causing the shift in his perception, or if there was something much worse that was happening. Somewhere in the dark recesses of his mind he recognized the dull but slow motion vocalizations of the red alert klaxon. But his attention was focused entirely on the strange behavior of the spinning bottle which had now suddenly managed to exceed the speed that it should have begun with and closed the distance between him and the glass display case with a blur of motion, only to return to the snail like crawl of movement as it slammed into the glass plated case. Baylon could actually watch the glass flex under the impact. He could see the cracks start and radiate outwards from the impact point, running like sea tortoises for the edge of the glass plate. Then came the high pitched noise of the breaking glass, not as high-pitched as it should be, yet strangely familiar in it's timbre nonetheless. The plate then suddenly burst outwards as the bottle once again accelerated, but the burst of speed was quickly over. Tiny shards of glass twisted and spun in midair, catching the strange light in the compartment and glittering like miniature snowflakes illuminated by red and blue shifted light. Several of the displayed weapons began to shift as the body of the bottle pressed against them. They were displaced in such slow motion that it almost looked as if the entire event was choreographed to allow Baylon to take in all the movements in an elongated moment. In a blur of motion, everything seemed to speed up again, back to it's normal speed and Baylon could barely make out the individual movements as he had been able to do a moment earlier. He stood quickly... a little too quickly and lost his balance. The affects of the alcohol overcame him and the Security chief suddenly pitched sideways, arms flailing in an attempt to regain his balance. His head struck the table beside the chair he had been occupying a moment earlier and there was a sudden explosion of light behind his eyes. He groaned for a moment, laying on the carpet, with blood running down his forehead. He started to rise, but lacked the strength. The lights receded and Baylon plunged into darkness. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, Bridge, CTAC Ensign Lo'ren T'Vof, 14:37) Lo'ren was at TAC I, reviewing the most recent data on the Breen. It wasn't much more than they'd had yesterday, or the day before. She had the last ship that had mirrored the Hades on her console, trying to find somethingthat would be worth investigation. ~Nothing, absolutely nothing. Why are we here again?~ She pursed her lips as she closed off the information. When OPS actually piped up Lo'ren snapped her head up, glad for the change - even if it proved minor. "Captain some kind of energy wave has just appeared on sensors, moving in our direction," The OPS officer reported. "Source," Captain Straton queried. "Unknown. Detecting a large concentration of chroniton particles within the wave itself," came the answer from the Science Station. "Red alert. Raise shields, Range and time to impact can we outrun it?" Lo'ren hit the Alert and called up the live feed Tac data for the ship as she raised shields - waiting for anything. ~A Red Alert, better than another day of stillness if you ask me.~ "It appears to be gaining speed exponentially. I've never seen anything like it," Science reported. "15 seconds till impact," OPS reported. Straton barked out new orders, "Turn us into the wave! All hands, this is the Captain. Brace for impact. I repeat, brace for impact." Lo'ren swung herself into the console, securing her chair and her body against being tossed about like a Velocity spheroid. As the wave struck the ship Lo'ren felt the strangest sensation - as if she felt the cells in her body duplicating at half their normal rate. ~What the?~ She turned her head to stare at the viewscreen, the movement taking an eternity of nanoseconds.~Prophets be praised - that's beautiful, completely freakish, but beautiful.~ As she watched, a number of Starfleet ships began popping into existence alongside Klignons and Cardassians. Lo'ren saw her console light up as a result of ships coming into proximity of the shields and it felt agonizingly slow just to move her hand over to acknowledge it, then her hand suddenly skidded as it made contact at full speed. The only thing that stopped her from hitting anything else were the disciplined muscles she'd honed over the past few years. Over the blare of the klaxons Lo'ren heard Straton snap off an order,"Report." "We are still at the same coordinates as before," OPS reported, "warp drive is off line...This...this can't be right. Sir. The chronometer reads that the Stardate is 2413.09.08." Eyes as wide as plates, Lo'ren started checking her station and confirmed the chronometer with the closest subspace buoy. ~Holy temples...~ It appeared that Straton was just as incredulous as Lo'ren felt "What?" Eva asked, "Run diagnostics on all systems, especially the chronometers, and get a full damage report." Lo'ren scanned her console and relayed her report. "Captain, the chronometer is right - unless we are getting false reading from the closest subspace buoy. Some of the klaxons are proximity alarms from the confluence of ships we saw a moment ago. Clearing that up, and I can confirm that those ships are no longer present on sensors." Lo'ren tapped her controls and silenced the noise, clearing the proximity sensors at the same time. "Shields are operational, as well as all weapons seem to be online - but I'd like to do a visual sweep of the torpedoes." (reply any) "Contact Star Fleet Commander," Eva ordered, "Advise them of our situation and request an update." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, Personal Quarters, CMO Angeni O. Windsong-Trommashere, 14:37.5) Angeni stood in front of her full lenght mirror putting the finishing touches on her hair. With a free afternoon, and with Harry at his post, it left her with some free time to access the holodeck. She was currently dressed for salsa dancing, wearing a black evening dress with a slit up the one thigh that just barely kept anything modest. She pulled the skirt to the side, strapping on a thigh kit that held medical supplies. ~Ya never know when you might need it.~ She twirled once in the mirror, smiling softly at herself. It had been a while since she had gone dancing, and she wasn't about to pass up the opportunity. As she gently played with a curl in her hair, she felt the ship shudder once, then a wave of light passed through her room. She could barely get an arm up before the wave hit her. She watched as everything seemed to slow down, her movements agonizingly slow. She watched as it seemed like ghosts of people appeared and moved about in her room. As quickly as it started, it passed, and she felt herself jerking forward. She looked around, and she tapped her comm badge, making a beeline for Sickbay. "Dr. Trommashere to Sickbay, Status Report...how are things going down there?" (Reply whomever is in sickbay) "Gotcha. I'm on my way." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades – Marine Staging Area, MCO’s Office – Lt Col Drizzt - 14:38) Drizzt stepped out of his office, fully geared, and looked around. It was his squad on ready-alert this shift – and the Fallen Angels look just like he felt, bored to death. The gear they’d all brought with them for this mission had long since been stowed, the alert squad didn’t engage in much exorcize during their shift (ever try to do a jumping jack in full BDU modular armor? HA). In fact, half his squad was playing the arch-typical poker game over an empty ammo crate. “That’s right,” he said, just loud enough for his squad to hear. “That’s what I like to see – a crowd that’s merry.” “You’re welcome to join in next hand Colon-“ His squad sgt was cut off by the Red Alert klaxons suddenly going off. Drizzt stared blankly at the Klaxon for a moment before ripping the helmet off its hard point and slapping it on. “Armor up, Drizzt to all Marines, suit up for battle!” He was just moving to the weapons rack when the Captain’s voice came over the intercom- =^=All hands, this is the Captain. Brace for impact. I repeat, brace for impact.=^= “Belay my last, brace!” he bellowed as he fell to the deck, as there was nothing close enough to grab. He hadn’t even hit the deck when things suddenly got… weird. It was as if someone were playing with the fabric of time, it took him long moments to fall the last few inches before his hands actually touched the deck. And then, with no warning, it was over. Drizzt was laying against the deck, looking from one side to the other, as Marines held on for dear life or sat on the floor themselves. After several long seconds, Drizzt said – “Marines, proceed with caution to the armory and prepare for battle.” [System Update, Chronometer and system time updated.] the small voice of his BDU’s Pallas CPU announced in its standard no-nonsense voice. Drizzt quirked an eyebrow and pushed off the deck. “Eh – explain that,” he asked as he began to stand, hoping against hope that someone hadn’t figured out a way to hack the BDU’s systems. [System time now reads fourteen thirty-eight hours, Stardate 2413.09.08] “What the hell?” he asked as he stood. “System scan, where did you pull that damned Stardate from?” [From the USS Hades central computing system, USS Hades master chronometer has been updated.] ~Something screwy going on.~ he thought. [Taccorder Update, detecting chroniton particles. Unable to compensate, recommend withdraw if possible.] That DID catch him short, “Tie into the ships computer system, how wide-spread are these particles?” [Ship wide, but diminishing.] “Oh – damn.” He said to himself. Drizzt was a combat engineer, which meant he was as much an Engineer as a Marine, he knew very well what the presence of Chroniton particles meant. In fact, after some of the escapades they’d had during the war, he knew first hand. Suddenly, he was hoping that someone WAS able to hack the computer systems, the alternative was… “Drizzt to Bridge, is there a tactical threat?” He paused, not wanting to ask the obvious questions when they were still at red alert. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades- Sickbay- ACMO Ensign (sg) Hawkeye Dolphine- 1438.5) Hawkeye was reviewing medical charts in the office when he felt a sudden tremor in the office. The next thing he knew, there was a flash of light that went perpendicular through the entire sickbay. "What was that?" Hawkeye asked the on duty medics and Nurses. "I.m not sure Hawk" replied John. "All I can tell you is that the pyxis is going nuts and the chronometers that keep an eye on our expiration dates are now saying that all our drugs are expired." About that time, Hawkeye's Comm Badge Chirped. -/\-Dr. Trommashere to Sickbay, Status Report...how are things going down there?"-/\- Hawkeye tapped his Comm Badge to reply. "I'm not sure Angeni, You may want to get down here. There was a flash of light and then our entire computer systems went nuts. N V T S nuts." -/\-"Gotcha. I'm on my way."-/\- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades - Main Engineering - ACEO Ensign Eoin Mac Liam - 14:39) Eoin sat back in his seat, doing his best to keep his eyes glazing over while monitoring his console. There had been no anomaly, or change for that matter, in engine output in over three hours. And he was very much looking forward to lunch by now. In the meantime, he felt his hands over. They had become a lot rougher since he had first been posted to the Hades, with several callouses built up on his palms. He was amazed at how soft they had gotten during his stint as a linguist. But now they reminded him of the farmer hands of his youth. But the difference was he felt older, but in a good way. He looked older too. He'd let his hair grow a little bit more, and now sported a set of modest sideburns. He sometimes wondered whether people would recognise him next time he'd be home. He contemplated home now. In five days, it'd be Christmas, and everyone would be at his parent's house on Earth. But not him. No, he'd be stuck on the Breen border, bored to tears. Red alert klaxons broke Eoin out of his thoughts. Immediately he jumped out of his seat, ready for action. But what that action was he didn't know yet. Then came his answer. =/\=All hands, this is the Captain. Brace for impact. I repeat, brace for impact.=/\= Eoin immediately sat back down, and pulled the chair braces over his lap. He grabbed hold of the console, and waited. Then, it hit. Eoin felt the shudder, but wasn't buffeted around as much as he thought he'd be. He also noticed that the klaxons were sounding lower and slower. As if time itself was distorted. He looked down at the warp engine readout, and saw that it was all over the place. He yelled for another engineer at a nearby station. "Shut it down," he yelled at the fresh-faced crewman. He was perplexed by the sound of his own voice. It was a great deal lower, and he was speaking more slowly than before, though he wasn't making any effort to do it. He knew then that somehow time was being distorted. He shook it off as quickly as he could, and turned his attention to the monitor in front of him. His fingers didn't as much fly over the console as they did canter. But he and the crewman were able to shut it down before any catastrophes occurred. Then the shaking stopped. the klaxons were still blaring like all hell, but back at their normal pitch and measure. When the call came in for damage reports, Eoin signalled the bridge. "No casualties to report as of yet, ma'am, but the warp engines went wild down here. We were able to shut them down before disaster struck, but they're going to need at least a thorough once-over before we can even think about bringing them back online." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, Bridge, FO/CSO Jericho Haynes, 14:40) ~Chronitron particles? Time distortion personified.~ Jack braced himself as Commander Straton issued terse orders which were quickly complied with. When the wave washed over the ship, the vertigo it caused seemed to distort and twist his perception of time, exactly the effect associated with them. Even his thoughts seemed to slow as he watched the viewscreen from his place in the FO's chair, ships popping into view and then disppearing from a number of warp capable civilizations, friend and foe alike. Not only that but a number of Federation ships as well while the alarm klaxon blared in excruciating slowness. How 'long' the effect lasted was open to interpretation of course, was it merely seconds or were his own interpretation of the time skewed by the distortion? Before long however they were snatched out and rudely deposited back in 'normal' space- time. "Report," The Captain snapped. "We are still at the same coordinates as before," Adams reported, "warp drive is off line...This...this can't be right. Sir. The chronometer reads that the Stardate is 2413.09.08." "What?" Captain Straton asked increduously "Run diagnostics on all systems, especially the chronometers, and get a full damage report." "I'm on it." Jack was up and sprinting toward science two to run a full diagnostic of the chronometry of the ship, if this was true they had just made one hell of a time jump. "Contact Star Fleet Command," The Captain barked, "Advise them of our situation and request an update." "Aye sir." David Adams called out. "Communications open and hailing starfleet command." As he was doing that Jack was initiating the diagnostic protocol. "Captain I have Starfleet command on audio, they are advising us to to proceed to Khitomer immediately." Lt. Adams turned to Eva. "They don't sound very happy sir. Orders?" Jack looked up from his readout before she could reply. "Correct timeline verified Captain, we're in the year 2413.09.08 as indicated. Attempts to access the navigational transponders and Starfleet secure channels are being blocked. Telemetry indicates our command codes are out of date and locked out." (Reply: Eva) "Shall I try to get a visual Captain?" Lt. Adams asked? (Reply: Eva) "Aye sir." The viewscreen activated and the UFP symbol came up and stayed for several seconds before the transmission was accepted, when it did the visage of the Admiral that came on screen was notably stern. =^= Hades, if this is the USS Hades as you contend you have received your orders and I expect them to be followed to the letter, if you do not you will have to answer to Starfleet command. Do I make myself clear?=^= --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades-Sickbay-CMO Angeni O. Windsong-Trommashere-1440.5) Angeni walked into Sickbay, looking around. Nothing seemed too amiss, just lots of different systems off line. She walked over to a biobed, tapping on the controls as a Medic walked past her, slack jawed. "Ms. Angeni..." He said with a smooth southern drawl, "You look wonderful..." Angeni waved a hand, "Put your eyes back in your head, sweetheart. Anyone know what's going on here?" As one of the main computers popped back on, she tapped a few things, then she took a step back. The date was five years in the future. She shook her head, calling out over her shoulder. "Watch the date on this computer, it's wrong." "All the dates on all the computers are wrong, ma'am..." "Excuse me?" A nurse walked up to her holding a padd. The automatic date that popped up was the same as the one on the main computer terminal. She held the padd for a moment, then she sighed. "Just to be on the safe side, start running scans on all of our medications, make sure they are still good to use. Report back to me when you are finished." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades- Sickbay- ACMO Ensign (sg) Hawkeye Dolphine- 1442) Angeni walked into Sickbay, looking around. Nothing seemed too amiss, just lots of different systems off line. She walked over to a biobed, tapping on the controls as a Medic walked past her, slack jawed. "Angeni, Im glad youre here. According to the pxysis system, its sometime in the future and its reporting that all of our drugs are expired. About 2 mins prior however, the drugs still had a few years left before they were even close to expiring. I have the duty Medics running preliminary scans on our medications to check the efficacy. As soon as I know anything more I will bring it to your attention. The only thing I have left to report is that according to medical records, everyone on board is much older than they actually are. I'm not sure if this is a computer glitch or if it had anything to do with the flash of light that passed through here." Hawleye reported. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades – Bridge- FO/CSO Lt. Jericho Haynes - 14:43) Jack was still at science 2 as Captain Straton was issuing orders when a transmission light began pulsing, he tapped the button to open the channel. =^= Drizzt to Bridge, is there a tactical threat?=^= The voice was familiar, Jack realized after an instant it belonged to the marine MCO. "Negative at this time Col. Drizzt, the phenomenon appears to be of natural origin. I or the captain will inform you if the situation changes." (Reply: Drizzt) "I have double-checked the chronometers and there is no mistake, we appear to have been thrown nearly five years into the future. Stand by for further updates." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, Bridge, Captain Eva Straton, 14:44) =^= Hades, if this is the USS Hades as you contend you have received your orders and I expect them to be followed to the letter, if you do not you will have to answer to Starfleet command. Do I make myself clear?=^= The Admiral on the screen said sternly. ~If this is the USS Hades?~ Eva thought as she frowned at the Admiral on the screen. ~Who else would we be?~ "Acknowledged," Eva replied just as sternly then motioning to close the connection. She frowned at the screen as it reverted back to the star field for a few seconds gathering her thoughts. "Set course for Khitomer, best possible speed," She said, "Tell Engineering to get warp drive back on line as soon as possible. Schedule a senior officers meeting in one hours time." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades – Marine Staging Center – Lt Col Drizzt - 14:45) =^=Negative at this time Col. Drizzt, the phenomenon appears to be of natural origin. I or the captain will inform you if the situation changes.=^= Drizzt licked his dry lips. “Sir, are the computers correct on the date?” =^=I have double-checked the chronometers and there is no mistake, we appear to have been thrown nearly five years into the future. Stand by for further updates.=^= “Aye Sir, Drizzt out.” Leonal took several long seconds to work all that out in his head. It appeared, for better or worse, that they’d jumped time. He pulled his helmet off, “All Marines, we’re on alert, but there is no apparent threat. Continue to muster for armor.” He waited a few more moments, “MCO to Security Chief. The Marines stand ready to assist if you need us.” -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, Main Engineering - Engineer Ensign (jg) Arysha Tethlin - 14:46) Arysha watched the dots as they literally moved around the ship like ants in a colony. Each dot was a fellow engineer and she was helping them to find the big and little trouble spots. Munoz was close to a rather nasty knot and she signalled him. [Hot wires ahead joint-two Munoz, careful.] The reply came through almost immediately. [Thanks, Rysha.] Eoin was wending his way up towards the port nacelle and Arysha was about to give him further directions to the next trouble junction when orders flashed across her screen. [Warp Engines Priority one repair. Senior staff meeting in one hour.] She saw the acknowledgement scroll up with Eoin's specific text encoding on it and then his query to her. [Did you get that Arysha?] Her fast fingers typed out a response immediately, [Yes, E-Red, got. Warp repair first must; Senior Staff meet 1-hour.] She expected that Eoin would want someone up in the prop to take over soon so that order didn't surprise her, it was what came next that did. [Call me in thirty minutes' time. Also get someone to take over for you when it's time to leave.] She blinked and re-read his instructions. ~Replace me? For-for? Time to leave?~ She wasted no further time but signalled for Joranski to join the red-haired engineer in the upper port tubes. She sent off a message immediately following to Eoin, [E-Red, Joranski soon join-you will. But, for-for replace me?] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, Observation Lounge, Captain Eva Straton, 15:45) Eva stood at the head of the table and called the meeting to order."As you all may know," She said, "We are now enroute to Khitomer. Why? We will have to wait and see. Right now I want a departmental status report." Eva sat down and waited for the department heads to give their reports. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades - Observation Lounge – Lt Col Drizzt - 15:46) "As you all may know, We are now enroute to Khitomer. Why? We will have to wait and see. Right now I want a departmental status report." Drizzt, characteristically quiet, only paid half a mind to what he was hearing from the other Departmental Officers. He already knew what shape the ship was in, he and his team were pitching a hand synchronizing all the different systems that had been knocked for a loop. Now, though, his silence was less because he was introspective, and more because he was quite worried. He’d come onto the Hades for a temporary tour along the border, and possible special action. He’d expected to be separated from Susan and his little daughter for only a short amount of time. Now, to the rest of the universe, it’d been five years. Susan… well, there had been plans that Susan would take a long vacation from the Boudicca during his detached duty, she was considering leaving the fleet. She would not have been on any of the vessels that jumped. She would be five years older now, and she would undoubtedly think he was dead. In fact, even in his wildest dreams, he couldn’t help but think that he’d been ‘dead’ to her for at least four years. And his daughter, Luisa… she wouldn’t know him. What should have been a few months was now. He had to keep telling himself that he would take the news, whatever news it was, like an Andorian. Yet, even so, he could not stop thinking about it. He was quite in love with Susan, but he doubted he’d wait five years for her if she suddenly disappeared. Did he have any right to expect she would? Would she wait? Was his daughter ok? Those two questions were the crux of it, all right. It was times like this he cursed his inquisitive, and obsessive, mind. Finally, he picked up on ques that it was his turn to give a report. “The Marines are ready,” he said in a near-monotone. “Our gear was quickly repaired, only one of my people reported an injury due to our… jump. We’re good to go.” --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, Observation Lounge, CTAC Ensign Lo'ren T'Vof, 15:47) Eva stood at the head of the table and called the meeting to order."As you all may know," She said, "We are now enroute to Khitomer. Why? We will have to wait and see. Right now I want a departmental status report." Eva sat down and waited for the department heads to give thei rreports. Lo'ren stood quickly, already on edge because of the communications blackout. ~We were in a battle not long that ago that saved two species from slavery and we are being treated like criminals.~ She kept personal opinion to herself however and spoke directly to Tactical status. "Ma'am, the Hades is ready on the Tactical level. Shields are operational; weapons are offline but ready to go hot. So far our escort has not done anything hostile but I have the Tactical staff on silent alert. (reply Straton iyw) She continued her report, "Lt. Trinin sustained injury during the phenomena and asked me to report on his behalf. Security is on stand-by mode pending any trouble. I expect none, but without knowing the full details of our current status in regards to our escort Lt. Trinin has ordered them ready for any possible on-board situations." She sat down and listened to the further department reports, wondering how Baylon had managed to get a concussion when they weren't even shaken that hard. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, Observation Lounge, FO/CSO Jericho Haynes , 15:48) Jack sat quietly as Eva brought the meeting to order. "As you all may know," She said, "We are now enroute to Khitomer. Why? We will have to wait and see. Right now I want a departmental status report." She then sat down and waited for reports. Jack looked about the room during the short wait, the tension was palpable on many faces, including that of the Andorian MCO. Lo'ren was the first to rise to her feet, Jack figured under the circumstances Col. Drizzt would be one of the last. Lt. Trinin was notably absent, having been found in his quarters injured and was receiving treatment. "Ma'am, the Hades is ready on the Tactical level. Shields are operational; weapons are offline but ready to go hot. So far our escort has not done anything hostile but I have the Tactical staff on silent alert. (reply Straton iyw) "Lt. Trinin sustained injury during the phenomena and asked me to report on his behalf. Security is on stand-by mode pending any trouble. I expect none, but without knowing the full details of our current status in regards to our escort Lt. Trinin has ordered them ready for any possible on-board situations." After the report she returned to her seat beside Jack who gave her a small smile and a nod, he could feel her worry which mirrored his own. As FO he would be officially the last to report on ships status. Ensign McKenzie had been tasked to report for the science department for the meeting. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2413.09.23 (USS Hades, Bridge, CO Captain Eva Straton, 0700) It hade taken over a day for Engineering to get the warp drive back on line. At the end of that day three Federation start ships had arrived to 'escort' them to Khitomer and they'd been ordered to maintain radio silence until further notice. Eva didn't like it, not one bit. She wanted answers and she wanted them now. They had just arrived in the Khitomer system and Eva was studying the tactical display with a mix of surprise and confusion. Almost every ship in the 52nd Fleet seemed to be in the system along with several other Star Fleet ships, though the 52nd ships were largely outnumbered. "Captain, we are receiving a transmission," Lt. Adams at OPS said, "We are to establish standard orbit then you are to beam down to the surface." "Acknowledge those orders, then put us into a standard orbit," Eva said. ~Something doesn't smell right.~ She then pushed a button on the arm rest of her command chair. "Sasha, can you join me in my Ready Room in 5 minutes please." (Reply Sasha) "Lt. Haynes, I want you Lt. Trinin, Ensign T'Vof and Colonel Drizzt there as well." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, Bridge, FO/CSO Lt. Jericho Haynes, 0702) The trip to Khitomer had been tense with no clue as to what they would find when they arrived. Nothing had prepared them for the clutter of starfleet vessels that had been found in the system. They had been ordered tersely to stand by and maintain communications silence. Jack didn't like it, no one did it appeared but they went about their jobs with professional detachment. He would not have been surprised however if someone had exploded in frustration from the palpable tension. Needless to say he would not have been surprised had it been he himself. The number of federation vessels maintaining what could only be an enforced quarantine here as opposed to the vessels of the 52nd fleet which were inside the system suggested their intentions were not trusted in the slightest. ~What have we become? ~ "Captain, we are receiving a transmission," It was Lt. Adams "We are to establish standard orbit then you are to beam down to the surface." "Acknowledge those orders, then put us into a standard orbit," Captain Straton snapped then called the former commander Stolev to the Ready Room. (Reply Sasha) "Lt. Haynes, I want you Lt. Trinin, Ensign T'Vof and Colonel Drizzt there as well." Jack turned his head to acknowledge the order. "Aye Captain." As she moved to the Ready Room he tapped his combadge. "Colonel Drizzt, Lt. Trinin, Ensign T'Vof report to the Ready Room immediately," ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, Personal Quarters, CTAC Ensign Lo'ren T'Vof, 0703) Lo'ren was almost dressed. She'd gotten ready and decided to leave off her uniform jacket for a few more minutes, taking a little amount time in an effort to calm her frayed nerves. She'd had the Tactical crews on silent alert status for 15 days and it was wearing - for them and for her. She hated that the potential threat were seemingly their own people. =/\=Colonel Drizzt, Lt. Trinin, Ensign T'Vof report to the Ready Room immediately.=/\= Jack's voice was as tense as she felt and Lo'ren wanted nothing more than to go somewhere - away - with him and forget this absurdity. Knowing very well it wasn't possible to run away, she instead used the desk console to reply as her combadge was halfway across the living room, "On my way, T'Vof out." Grabbing her jacket, she threaded her arms into the sleeves, stuck her mug into the replicator to be refilled and grabbed the full mug of raktajino on her way out the door. She tossed off a hasty, "Computer, lights," just before she was off into the corridor. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, Ready Room, CSEC, Lieutenant Baylon Trinin, 0704) Baylon stepped into the ready room, his appearance a bit more disheveled than he might have liked. His uniform tunic was square, but he had a couple of days growth on his chin that belayed a deep body fatigue that was a result of a combination of things that had plagued him as of late. By the time he had arrived, Colonel Drizzt and Lieutenant Haynes had already beat him there. Not that the fact had surprised him, after all, the last week of broken sleep and nightmares had begun to take it's toll on theSecurity Chief. He regarded the assembled officers with slightly sunken bloodshot eyes that were carrying enough baggage to make a Betazoid princess happy. With a forced nod, he greeted them and waited for the captain to address them. He stood upright although not at attention. As the captain began, "Lt.Haynes I am leaving you in command while I am on the surface. I want you to keep Sasha on the Bridge with you, if anything happens to me on the surface he will know and will be able to tell you. My primary concern here is the ship and crew. " Jack nodded. Baylon just watched the exchange between the two officers. ~A nod?!? That's it? No protest?~ ~Am I really just a burned out relic? Maybe I should consider retirement, or something other than Starfleet?~ He wondered "That is why I will be going down alone. Colonel Drizzt and Lt. Trinin, I want both your departments prepared in case the ship is boarded and they attempted to take it by force." Baylon nodded as the captain continued. "...Ensign T'Vof, will keep a an eye on all ship traffic in the system, both ships from the 52nd fleet and those that are not. Remain alert, but do not instigate a confrontation. We have jumped 5 years into the future, so it is understandable that Star Fleet is going to have questions. They want to make sure we are who we say we are. Well I will do my best to ensure they are who they say they are. If I need to communicate with you covertly, I will do so through Sasha. In a worst case scenario, and fighting does indeed break out, I recommend you try to ally with other ships from the 52nd, but lets hope it doesn't come to that." Eva walked around her desk and looked at each of them squarely in the eye. "Are there any questions?" Baylon broke eye contact first, He didn't have any right to look his new captain in the eye, not after failing the last one. "I don't suppose it would do me any good to quote regulations to you, Captain? Something along the lines of security escorts and the like?" ~Of course, it's not like you'd be of any real help. You were about as far from Sash as Straton is from you now and you still managed to lose him.~ (reply Straton) "I didn't think so." "Do you want us to keep a extraction team ready for you, Captain?" The Marine MCO added. (reply Straton) Baylon regarded the Andorian for a moment, then shifted his attention elsewhere. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, Ready Room, CO Captain Eva Straton, 0705) Once everyone had gathered in her Ready Room, Eva started snapping out orders. "Lt. Haynes I am leaving you in command while I am on the surface. I want you to keep Sasha on the Bridge with you, if anything happens to me on the surface he will know and will be able to tell you. My primary concern here is the ship and crew. That is why I will be going down alone. Colonel Drizzt and Lt. Ensign T'Vof, keep a an eye on all ship traffic in the system, both ships from the 52nd fleet and those that are not. Remain alert, but do not instigate a confrontation. "Are there any questions?" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades – Ready Room – Lt Col Drizzt - 0706) Drizzt, standing loosely at parade rest in SDU with battle harness, listened as Straton began barking orders. The rest of his Marines were fully armed, he would be as soon as he was dismissed. The fact that all the officers had been summoned to this one small room behooved him to dress down, so there’d be room for the rest. His antenna twitched as she finally made her way to him, “Colonel Drizzt and Lt. Trinin, I want both your departments prepared in case the ship is boarded and they attempted to take it by force.” ~As expected.~ he thought. He’d give a pretty penny to see anyone try to step foot on this ship. All this time with no contact with his family – any of it – had worked his nerves to the breaking point. He wasn’t a loose cannon, not by any means, but someone with his training was not meant to be kept in the mental state he was in. To say that he was dangerous was, by all standards, an understatement. "Are there any questions?" “Do you want us to keep a extraction team ready for you, Captain?” Drizzt asked in a mono-tone. It was a double sided question. Sure, he could send his Marines down fully geared and create all sorts of wonderful havoc, all in the name of retrieving his Captain. On the other hand, if their hosts planned trouble, that meant they’d expect rescue teams. Which, of course, meant he’d simply have to out-think their hosts, if it came down to that scenario. He had plenty of deadly toys to play with, to hell with them anyway if they planned betrayal. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, Ready Room, FO/CSO Jericho Haynes, 0707) The mood in the ready room was tense to put it mildly. "Lt. Haynes I am leaving you in command while I am on the surface. I want you to keep Sasha on the Bridge with you, if anything happens to me on the surface he will know and will be able to tell you. My primary concern here is the ship and crew. " Jack nodded. "That is why I will be going down alone. Colonel Drizzt and Lt. Trinin, I want both your departments prepared in case the ship is boarded and they attempted to take it by force. Ensign T'Vof, keep a an eye on all ship traffic in the system, both ships from the 52nd fleet and those that are not. Remain alert, but do not instigate a confrontation. In a worst case scenario, and fighting does indeed break out, I recommend you try to ally with other ships from the 52nd, but lets hope it doesn't come to that." Eva walked around her desk and looked at each of them squarely in the eye. "Are there any questions?" It sounded logical on the surface, with Sasha on the bridge he wouyld have instant access to her status. He still didn't like it. The questions he had could not be answered by the captain under these circumstances, starfleet had left them in a near complete vacuum of information. That was all right though, he would not be caught unprepared in case of an event. This ship would be ready to evacuate her by force if necessary. They had failed to rescue Sash under difficult circumstances, they would NOT fail this captain. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, Ready Room, CTAC Ensign Lo'ren T'Vof, 0708) If it weren't for the number of bodies, Lo'ren would be pacing. ~Maybe I need a pace track in my office.~ As it was she braced herself, holding up the bulkhead near the door. Straton stood behind the desk and tersely shot off orders to everyone. Jack got told he was in charge and to keep Sasha on the bridge as a sort of early warning system.Drizzt and Trinin were told to ready the troops and Lo'ren was to monitor all system traffic. Lo'ren had her mouth set into a line that showed how peeved she was and her voice was clipped as she replied with a simple, "Yes, Ma'am." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Khitomer, Transporter Room, Hades CO Captain Eva Straton, 0710) Eva materialized on the transporter pad her eyes narrowing as she noted the security team moving in as soon as the beam released her. "Identify yourself," One of the them said, though their weapons were not drawn, Eva could tell that they were alert and ready. "Captain Eva Straton, Commanding Officer USS Hades," Eva said, keeping her voice level, while she took in the number of guards and the exits in the room. "Are you unarmed?" The Lt. leading the detail then asked. "Yes," Eva replied truthfully. ~If I decide I need a weapon, I'll just take yours.~ she thought to herself. The Lt. hesitated, Eva suspected he was debating on searching her or not. Eva sighed, and opened her uniform coat so they could see that there were no concealed weapons. "This way," The Lt. said, leading the way out of the transporter room, the rest of his security team falling in behind her. Eva took special note of their movements behind her noting their emotional state. She didn't want to get shot in the back suddenly. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Khitomer, Conference Room, Hades CO, Captain Eva Straton, 0715) Eva walked into the room and took a quick look around noting all the various CO's of the 52nd fleet. She also noted the position of every security guard and exit, if things got ugly she wanted to increase her chances of survival. She noted an empty seat and moved over and took a seat, setting the PADD she had brought with her down on the table in front of her. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- end compile
